The Amanda Project - This was presented at the National Council of English Teachers. It has become widely read, and the same premise could be applied to most books/novels. It is geared for elementary, but it would work well in junior high school too. Interactive books improve comprehension as explained on Edutopia including examples.
Prezi is a storytelling website to create interesting presentations and to create stories. This site has been suggested for creating interactive stories.
Voki -- Create an online avatar. This allows students to interact as a character, person in history, teacher. Imagination is the only limit. Also, visit this wiki dedicated specifically to Voki use in a variety of subjects and grade levels.
Glogster is an online poster maker. Use to demonstrate students' understanding of concepts and/or construction of knowledge. Completely interactive.
Tell a Story in Five Frames - This is very difficult to do. Tell a Story in 5 Frames has two important parts. The first part is creating and telling a story through visual means with only a title to help guide the interpretation. The second part is the response of the group to the visual story. The group response can take many forms such as, a poetic or prose rendering of the visualization, a critique on the structure of the story, comments on the photograph, or other constructive forms of response. (An Idea Found on Flickr) You could use your class Wiki for students to post their frames/pictures.
